The "Would You Buy My Swag?" Thread AZ 2010Moderator: BobGuy Re: The "Would You Buy My Swag?" Thread AZ 201001 your charms look awesome! I wish my droid had a slot for one... id totally get one.
Sakky - I think your stuff is great but a bit overpriced for me. I personally wouldn't pay 40.00 for a plushie. 25 tops. I love your giant SM plush, she's so cute! <3
Re: The "Would You Buy My Swag?" Thread AZ 2010Yeah Marzipan, I'm starting to realize that commissioning a custom plushie vs. buying on that's pre-made is a totally different mindset for people. Thanks for the feedback! My commissioned ones start at $55 but it seems like people are much more willing to pay that price range for something custom made for them than they are for something already made.
It's just hard to reconcile the time spent making them VS. price. I don't want to pay myself $2/hour either
Re: The "Would You Buy My Swag?" Thread AZ 2010I can understand the preference of custom vs premade. Yours are made very well!! It just seems so high compared to 01s prices. Are you part of the table that handpaints the Sailor Moon images on the messenger bags?
Re: The "Would You Buy My Swag?" Thread AZ 2010Nope I've never done bags before, but it sounds cute!
No worries about the plushies since I've just got pending sales on all except Moon through DA. Whew~! o01, maybe you should be paying yourself more? I frequently book commissions at $55-100 each and they take 8-15 hours to make. That pays me around $6/hr on average and I'm booked til November so people clearly think it's worth it. All I'm saying is don't sell yourself short. I do this as a hobby but it does take a large chunk of my free time as I'm sure it does yours. Many people will say they don't want to pay a lot for a custom plushie, but there are people out there who understand what one of a kind, hand made stuff is really worth. I do have to be more open to pre-made stuff going for less though. I'm happy the little ones all found homes! It seems at least for the people who watch my work that the $35-40 range is good for premades. I think the only way they would've gone faster is if I'd given them away ![]()
Re: The "Would You Buy My Swag?" Thread AZ 2010I'm having to compromise on pricing for the plushes given my goal for the con is really just to break even. Though the America plush is also cheaper because it's y'know..unclothed, lol. I was thinking $30-$40 for America, and maybe $40-$50 for clothed/detailed ones of that size. But for the smaller ones probably $15-$20. I dunno...I guess I can always change pricing at the con if things aren't selling? I've never sold plushes before, or sold at a con so suggestions are more then welcome ^^;;
Also im glad people like the charms! They're really fun to make. What's fun with charm straps is they aren't limited to phones. I have my phone, DS, and a few on one of my bags. They're like keychains that can go, well, anywhere! The smaller strap is more welcoming to various mediums then the keychain rings.
Re: The "Would You Buy My Swag?" Thread AZ 2010Breaking even is a good reason to compromise. I had my plushies marked a higher at the convention ($40-65). Only one sold (a Dr. Who for $40). But I did book 4 or 5 customs ranging from $55-110. At the end of the convention I started marking things down and there was A LOT more interest. I think if I'd started with lower prices more of them would've sold there.
The charms are super cute and lots of people are into that so I think they should sell fairly well. I can't even tell you how many Hetalia costumes I saw; other than steampunk I'd say it was the most popular choice at Anime Boston. I'm stoked the raffle idea for me is a go ahead. My new plan is to give the raffle tickets away to people who purchase something. So everyone who buys from my table is eligible to win!
Re: The "Would You Buy My Swag?" Thread AZ 2010My problem is that if I charged by hour, no one would buy anything I make...
So next year, I don't think I'll take commissions again, because they take so long and I can only change so little for them ^^ "I believe this is yer sanwhich..."

Re: The "Would You Buy My Swag?" Thread AZ 2010I'm not really suggesting to charge by the hour. If we did that not too many people would be able to buy our stuff xD I'm just saying that's what it works out to be, roughly. At some point though you have to at least consider how much money you are making for your time spent. It's just smart business to know that sort of thing.
Re: The "Would You Buy My Swag?" Thread AZ 2010OMG I haven't been keeping up with this thread and I do try to. Just so I know what to stake out in the artist's alley. I got one of those sakura plushes last year that way.
But I love the Hetalia mochi charms. I'd buy one of each of any you had. ...I like charms. 8D Unohana-taichou at your service.

Re: The "Would You Buy My Swag?" Thread AZ 2010I'm thinking about selling some sackboy plushies for about 3 or 5 dollars on Sunday along with some 1 dollar onigiri keychains and cell phone charms. Would anyone buy those?

Re: The "Would You Buy My Swag?" Thread AZ 2010digit- i was so impressed to see your plushies the other day! the mini one is adorable. also, i have to say that the prussia charm is probably my favorite. :D
okay now on to MY STUFF. XD i have some stickers to sell that will be DIRT CHEAP! right now im pricing them at $ .25 each because i want them to sell out...big time. but just in case, does that sound too low? i mean- will people avoid them because theyre so inexpensive? anyway, there are a whole bunch of characters and i *might* throw some hetalia and naruto in if i have time. let me know what you think! (and DO NOT stick these on ANY con property if you buy them!!!!!!!) kuroshitsuji: http://fav.me/d28d16x everything else: http://fav.me/d2nn2vk i suck.
Re: The "Would You Buy My Swag?" Thread AZ 2010Finding the lack of decent shimapan (striped panties) for sale disturbing, I thought, hey, it's a nifty, adorable, niche item in anime! I could definitely make some for myself! Armed with fabric paint, tape, a foam brush and cardboard, I set to work. They turned out adorable! In love with my pink shimapan, I realized others might share my appreciation. So, I set to work on mass producing (and by mass producing, I mean 21 pairs) my beloved panties, complete with a cute accent ribbon! So, TL;DR: Would anyone be interested in buying Shimapan? Also, would anyone have any idea how much I should charge for them? Pics of panty thingies so I understand what they are.
Re: The "Would You Buy My Swag?" Thread AZ 2010![]() They don't look like granny panties when you put them on! I swear! I used Hanes Women's 100% Cotton Bikini Panties as the base, so they look quite nice when worn. Re: The "Would You Buy My Swag?" Thread AZ 2010Shimapan;
http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x254 ... ls_005.jpg Litterally blue striped panties. I wouldn't personally buy them, but I know you'll likely have some takers... Also, opinions? =D ![]() Have done most of the other eevee evolutions as well.
Re: The "Would You Buy My Swag?" Thread AZ 2010Going to have to pass on the panties.
Blue stripes aren't really my thing.01 - Cute charms.

Re: The "Would You Buy My Swag?" Thread AZ 2010thread revival >__>;;
So um, I'm thinking of making some bracelets and adding anime charms to them.. But, the problem is the charm. I'm not sure if I'll be able to make them by hand and make them look -good-. So, does anyone know a place where I can buy JUST the anime charms themselves? Like, not attached to a cellphone strap or anything. JUST the charm by itself.
