Anime/Manga RecommendationsModerator: BobD Re: Anime/Manga Recommendationsi was hoping someone could give me the name of the anime in one of the amv contest animes. it had a girl and guy and i believe they fell in love but split apart and at some point he was wearing a bear suit, then came by her apartment....it looked really good, but i wished they would put the names of the series at the end of the amv also.
Re: Anime/Manga RecommendationsThat would've been Toradora, it got licensed by NIS America a few months back and the first set should be coming out in July with some neat goodies.
Re: Anime/Manga Recommendationswandering dreamer, thank you soooo much. i was waiting for them to update the amv list from this past con.
Re: Anime/Manga RecommendationsActually, if there were any other AMV's that caught people's eyes, here's the complete list of the winners (and I recommend you watch all of them!).
Re: Anime/Manga RecommendationsI reccomend Variable Geo
Its so stupid. Not Bo-bo-bo stupid, Its accidentally stupid
Re: Anime/Manga RecommendationsRecently an author (Australia YA, not related to anime at all) posted that she had watched Moribito and loved the person who recommended it to her. Welll, since that was me, I dug up the synposis of Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit I gave her and decided to see if it fits anyone else's taste:
The story revolves around Balsa, a spear wielder who has charged herself to save 8 people to make up for the 8 people who were killed so that she could survive as a child. Her last person is a prince who appears to have been possessed by a water demon and whose father has tried to have him assassinated twice now. The story moves a bit slower than the book does (which is released in the US with a gorgeous treatment) so it alternates between the politics of the realm and the everyday life as Balsa tries to teach the prince how to live his life as a commoner. The characters are realistic, understandable, and the artwork in the show is stunning (Studio Ghibli quality for 26 episodes!) with some of the best animated fight scenes in all of anime. So, I suggest giving it a whirl, if you can stop by a Walmart in the US they have the complete set there for $30 (full disclosure, it’s a pretty ugly boxset but it’s a steal) and the first two original books have been published by Scholastic.
Re: Anime/Manga Recommendations
I'm actually watching this series at the moment and it's a pretty good series so far, even though I'm only on the eighth episode. It's definately worth a watch. ~~~ If anyone needs a good school-life/comedy manga, I would reccomend Yankee-Kun to Megane-Chan. ~Planned cosplays for AZ '11~
Balsa from Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit Hinata Hyuuga from Naruto Shippuden
Re: Anime/Manga RecommendationsAlice in the Country of Hearts: Just try it, even if you think it sounds stupid. I did, but I ended up loving it.
+Anima: A really innocent, lighthearted manga that has become sort of my secret love. This was the first manga that I bought, and I loved it. Not many people know it, but I'd highly recommend it. Re: Anime/Manga Recommendations
Do it~ It's a ten-volume series, but they go by really quickly. It ended a couple of years ago, I think, but every time I go to the bookstore I still look for the nonexistent next volume... Re: Anime/Manga RecommendationsCromartie High School. It is the funniest anime/manga that I have watched/read, a great deadpan comedy. It is sort of like Azumanga, but with an almost entirely male cast. I recommend both the anime and the manga because there are some great gags in both versions that the other doesn't do. The only downside is that it doesn't look like the manga will ever be completely translated into English.
Re: Anime/Manga RecommendationsKaichou wa Maid-sama ^-^ this is not as girly as it sounds lol its pretty funny and random while still having its romantic parts <3 I love that anime so much!!
also Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-Chan, if you haven't seen this anime you are really missing some awesome random stuff xDD its super bloody, random, and funny while still looking cute xD <3 just wish it were a longer series ~if life is but a fleeting dream...please do not wake me~
