Phases where you don't enjoy anime?

It used to happen every once in awhile, I just wouldn't watch anime for a few weeks then get back into it. This time is lasting forever though, I haven't had the desire to watch anime or play video games for months. I still do, but it feels more out of habit then actually wanting to do it. Anyone else ever experience this?

I get that way with just about everything from time to time. Usually it's just because I've been watching a lot of anime for a while and not as much of something else, so I get burned out and want a change of pace. Then I get burned out on whatever the other thing is and eventually start to miss anime, and the cycle continues.

(And that's not counting times where I'm just too caught up in real-life crap to get caught up in anything else... like, say, when everybody's freaking out about a hurricane)

From time to time. I mean, I went through a spell where I burned though all of Spartacus (Blood and Sand AND Gods of the Arena), both seasons of Justified, and Generation Kill before I got back to some anime. I went 2 months without touching a video game, then picked up and burned through 3 games in a week. It comes and goes. Not to long ago, after quite a dry spell on video games, I picked up and started working on FF 7 and 9 again for the first time in MANY years.

I think it happens to everyone.
I've went through those spells before as well.

This is one just lasting way too long.. How can you not be in control of what you enjoy!?

Try just sitting down and watching a bit of anime one day.
You may find yourself getting back into how you once was.

That's a good point, actually. There have been a bunch of times where I was in one of those dry patches, then my interest was suddenly kick started because I caught a bit of what somebody else was watching.

I usually hit a dry patch a couple of weeks before every Animazement, and I'll see some AMVs video rooms or something, and have a good month of anime I have to watch when I get home. There was a CANAAN AMV that lit my anime fire this year.

That reminds me, AMVs can really spark some your interest, as people take some of their favorite scenes, and compress them into a quickly watchable package.

I don't ever watch anime. I love it when I do though. Not that it's bad. I'm just lazy. I like to see myself as the missing link between normal folk and otaku

It happens to me as well.
I'll go weeks straight watching nothing but anime. Get bored, then go a few more weeks watching movies or tv shows, and then start over.
I think it's just because I'm spending so much time on one thing without many breaks between. ; w ;

Hopefully you can start enjoying the things you like again.
Maybe pick up an anime that you normally wouldn't watch? Most of the time that helps me.

Happens to me a lot. I go through cycles in just about everything it seems.
I won't be able to sit through ANY anime no matter what! I get bored and want to fall over even if its one I love. Though lately its been more of a "can't find anything new" for anime than that. I think I read more manga over watching anime but than again I like reading more sometimes...

I went through a phase like that after Animazement 2009 - as I was still getting over my mother's death at the time among other things. However, it was seeing friends cosplaying and watching cosplay things on youtube that got me back into it, and I'm glad. It took me about a year, however, to get over that phase.

It's often triggered by an anime I'm watching going into fillers, which causes me to ragequit and stop watching all anime for a while. I get over it pretty quickly though.

And then I hit a dry spell and UNC-TV airs "4 days at Dragon Con" and I go DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMNNNNNNNNNNNNN.

Haha agreed, Naruto killed me awhile back with that. I think it's also cause I watch so much after AZ I overdo it.

Yeah, I hate fillers and actually stopped watching Bleach because of that. But I'll pick up the series again eventually. But I'm in a bit of a dry spell at the moment - few anime recently have interested except for some of the old school stuff on netflix.

Happens all the time. The thing about hobbies is that they do tend to phase way after time. You get to a point where what used to interest you no longer does.

Yeah. I'm in one of those grooves now. Been like that for a while. I've been leaning really heavily towards video games, however, and have been mad hard interested in them.
