I asked if this would be allowed and have not gotten a response back from staffers, but I really wanna hear from you guys and see what you think of the idea!!
This is a panel to allow Singles who, obviously, love the same things to come together!!
I've heard WAY too many times from my anime loving friends that there are no singls out there who love what they love.
But it is not true!! They are just hiding! xD This is to draw out people interested in finding a companion who loves anime/cosplay/gaming/etc. and bring them together!!
I was thinking kinda a speed dating thing. Set the room up where seats sit across from each other at the tables. Give everyone a certian amount of time to talk and get to know eachother and them move on to talk to somone else!!
Only reason this will end up 18+ is because I don't want young girls looking for sugar daddys and I don't want young boys being hunted down by cougars. xD
This way everyone knows that everyone is around the same age as themselves and are also legal. xD
SO, what do you guys think?? Yes or no?? Other suggestions to the idea??
I found love at a con, and I just wanna share that with others looking for love as well.
I'd definitely want to check this out if it was gay friendly. Too many times have I been to a convention that had some sort of speed dating type thing that totally left the LGBT group out of the loop.
AZ '12 plans: Garrus Vakarian- Mass Effect [Confirmed] Me: Go team GOOOOOOO!!!!! Little Brother: What? Team Rambo??
I've been hoping some kind of speed dating panel would pop up eventually and I'd definitely take part if there was one. The "hooking up" thing doesn't sit well with me, personally, but I'd been willing to give a speed dating type setting a whirl. Wouldn't hurt to try at least. haha
ANIMAZEMENT 2013 My cosplay: Fili (The Hobbit): 30% Possible Formal Ball cosplay: 0%
Sister's cosplay: Kili (The Hobbit): 40% Possible Formal Ball cosplay: 0%
you gonna set up an age limit as well? I can imagine people in their 30s going to this and being paired with people who are 18 or 19. Part of the reason why I wouldn't go to this myself (though there is nothing wrong with that, but I imagine other people don't share my opinion).
Ben: There is nothing sadder, Joe, than a sad Japanese man. Joe: Boy, I'll say... Seat 30

Sorry everyone has a different interpretation of 'hooking up', I mostly meant lots of couples form over the weekend.

That iiiiiiiiiiiiiis an excellent point. Like you said there is nothing wrong with that, but it would be awkard for someone to be stuck in that situation if they were hoping for someone there age.
This sounds like a fun. I'm not sure how well the organizers will respond as Animazement is geared toward family and children (as told to me by one of the staff of the convention center)
If you attended any of the 18+ panels this year, or some of the late night panels in previous years (Like Spike Spencer's "Don't Kill Your Date and Other Cooking Tips"), you'll recognize that while the convention is primarily a family-friendly event, they do offer some stuff for the older fans as well.
I'm interested to see how this turns out. Speed-dating is more appealing to me than con skanks.
As kaiser_forsaken said, this will be towards the later evening times and I plan to card people at the door so no one is under 18.
I figured I'll have it set up for 2 hours to give us good time.
The first hour will be getting to know one another, while the second hour I have fun games planned where you can pair off and work together, Like so: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7wWZ4eF_o60
You know they did 18+ wristbands this year. Easy solution is to make sure no one gets in without a wristband. Quick way to ID people, so you aren't stuck with people at the door checking IDs for an hour.
As for Coconut Smoochie, even when you lose you win.
