Cosplay Chess 2012: Main characters vs. Side characters

Cosplay Chess 2012! In honor of new beginnings and glorious ends Teddy Bomber and the MitchBot Minions are proud to be hosting the sixth annual Animazement Cosplay chess extravaganza.

This year theme will be Main characters vs. Side characters. It is time for the main characters to hold their title or lose the glory of it to their side kick counter parts. We chose this theme because we thought that it could incorporate the largest variety of sources and allow for some hilarious taunting, attacks, and deaths.

To clarify the theme

To be on the Main characters side your character has to the unquestionable Main Character from the anime, video game, etc.

Examples: Ed from Fullmetal Alchemist, Luffy from One Piece, Sakura from Card Captor Sakura, Goku from Dragonball Z, Usagi from Sailor Moon, Ash from Pokemon, Tsunayoshi Sawada from Reborn, or Batman

To be on the Side characters side your character can be anyone but the main character.

Examples: Hayato Gokudera From Reborn!, Sakura from Naruto, Kurama From Yu Yu Hakusho, Rei From Evangelion, etc.

HOW TO APPLY:

Please send all of the following in one e-mail to: azcosplaychess@gmail.com

Email Title should be in the following format:

Character Name, Real Name, Source

Example:

Daphne Blake, Danielle Bishop, Scooby Doo

We need:

1. Your real name.
2. Your character’s name.
3. Where your character is from.
4. A photo of your costume (it can be in progress).
5. Your cosplay.com or Animazment forum name so we can contact you.*
We check cosplay.com A LOT more often.
6. Give an example, or several, of a taunt, attack, or death you might use.*

*We want to see that you can have fun with it, because if you have fun with it, it makes a better show for everyone. It also helps us decide who to use when more than one person applies as your character, or when we get a lot of applications.


You DO NOT need to know anything about chess in order to be in cosplay chess. We have chess masters for that. You just need to be in costume.

IF YOU DO NOT SEND A PHOTO OF YOUR COSTUME WE WILL DELETE YOUR APPLICATION FASTER THAN SPAM. As well as not adding detailed taunts, attacks, and deaths, This is the core of the show and what keeps people interested in the show.

This is the main reason why people got rejected last year. All of this is to make it a more efficient process.*

We do not send individual e-mail receipt letters. We will post who we have received e-mails from. This might take a little while to update so please be patient. I’m a busy bee. Also, this year, if you have any questions about anything to do with chess email us. We will not be answering PM’s on the AZ OR Cosplay.com forums.

We don't send rejection letters or reasons why, there are too many applications to do this. We will e-mail you if you are accepted.

What about video game characters? Video games have several main characters, and some games have you switching up which ones you play. Is it just the one character you play, or can group members count too? Video games are a bit more vague on the subject. The one I'm thinking of atm are the Persona series.

I don't think they specified for it to be just anime. I'm thinking about doing a Disney character, for all that matters. lol

Ah, I wasn't asking about video game characters in general, I was more concerned with the 'main character' part. Like, there's the MC in the Persona series who is the guy you name, and then there's the friends he makes which become team members. Are they main characters too, or would just him be considered 'main'?

Yeah, they did give an example of main/side characters (ex: Naruto=main, Sakura=side)

Does Vocaloid count? If there had to be a 'main' character I'd say Miku (which is who I'll be except it'l be the Cantarella version)

I'd send them one at a time. If you sent it all in one email, they'd think it's three people as a group.

Hey AzCosplaychess! Love the theme this year! Quick clarification question. Considering entering as the main boss from Fatal Frame IV. Although she is the main boss (spends most of the time chasing your ass around, and is the last to be taken down), she is not a playable character, and wouldn't be considered the protagonist. But she's very much a main character in terms of importance to the story. Any thoughts as to which side she would be on? Sorry for the mildly obnoxious question. Can't wait!
