I've recently created a convention essentials list for myself, and I wanted to share it! I've accidentally left things at home in the past, so this year I want to get organized. Hopefully this list will prepare new con-goers . Feel free to add anything to it. EssentialsBadge receipt (if you pre-ordered online) Wallet IDs Insurance card Cash Car keys Empty Bag (for carrying around at convention) Manila Folder (for artwork at convention) List of roomate's phone numbers and medical concerns (just in case of an emergency)
ClothesCosplay costume Wig Regular outfits Hoodie (if it's cold) Comfortable shoes HygieneContacts/Glasses (if you wear them) Deoderant (cannot stress this enough xD) Sunscreen Makeup Hair brush Shampoo+Conditioner Body wash Shaving razor Washcloth or Towel Toothbrush Toothpaste Dental floss Advil/Ibuprofen Eyedrops Feminine products (if you're a woman)
ElectronicsCellphone Cellphone charger ipod+headphones ipod charger Camera Camera charger Laptop Laptop charger Powerstrip (so no one fights over outlets)
FoodWater bottle Gatorade Fruit Granola bars Pre packed microwavable food Ramen noodles
MiscSuperglue (fixing props) Band-Aids Small scissors Needle+thread (fixing small costume mishaps) Hand Sanitizer Hair ties Bobby pins Ear plugs
FINAL NOTES: If you're traveling by plane, then be aware on the rules and restrictions they have on carrying liquids. If you bring your own packed food, then you'll feel healthier and save money on expensive convention food! If you have friends/roommates with you at a hotel, then have all of their phone numbers and emergency contact information if anything happens.

Nice list. This is good to share for others, especially if they are disorganized. I make a very specific to Marzipan list every year myself. I hate leaving important items back home.

I can never get down to actually making a list, it makes me too anxious lol. Of course I have a mental list but who doesn't? Luckily I've never forgotten anything major.
My best friend though, she also makes specific lists like this. It is quite interesting how different minds work.

I usually have to make custom lists for each costume because each one changes so much in what it needs. But than I have the "Must Pack List" that has what anyone may need done in general format that you just have to make specific and its perfect.

Wow, this is a great idea! I usually have to make 3 separate lists. There's so much to remember to bring, especially when being at Artist Alley!
I'll definitely keep checking this thread to make sure I haven't forgotten anything either, hehe!

Thanks ! Last year I would carry the things I bought around in a bag. The prints became wrinkled and I was always afraid of losing things. This year I'm definitely going to bring a folder to hold prints and art in.

Things I have forgotten in the past: safety pins, gum, case of bottled water, windy/rainy jacket, swim suit, allegra.
Things you might want to consider buying/doing before con: glow sticks, snacks, dvds (to be signed), cash from the bank (never never never carry all your money with you at one time)
Things we have to always carry, but you don't really need: air horn, ramune, starbucks card!

Selling crap on eBay had given me $1,000 in cash, most of which was already spent on extremely bad cartoons. The trunk of the car looked like a mobile dealer’s room table. We had two laptop computers, seventy-five discs of anime, five Laserdisc box sets of unsubtitled Gundam, a spindle half-full of fansubs, and a whole galaxy of multicolored manga, dojin, artbooks, cels, and also a box of Pocky, a box of Hi-Chew, a case of Ramune, a pair of cat ears, and two maid outfits. All this had been rounded up the night before, in a frenzy of highspeed driving all over the Triangle – from Ed McKay’s to Nice Price Books, we picked up everything we could get our hands on. Not that we needed all that for the con, but once you get locked into a serious anime collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can.
I'm not sure what's going on here, but have you watched any of these Japaheeno guns-and-hooters cartoon movies?

Essentials?
Go Bag Dopp Kit Clothes Cash Camera Cell phone w/ Charger Rave Gear (assorted LED/Glow products, loose clothes, adding a water bottle or hydration bladder this year etc.) Foodstuffs (jerky, granola, CLIF bars, light and high energy foods) And last but not least, LOTS OF WATER and . . . other beverages
I leave the laptop, anime, video games, and all the other crap I can use anytime @ the house back at said house. I'll have plenty of time for it when the weekend is over. I still have no Idea why some friends bring a whole Rock Band set-up for their room when there is SO MUCH TO DO already.
