Artist Alley 101: A Practical and Fun Guide (ACCEPTED!)

Postby Shenanagan » Thu Dec 20, 2012 6:56 pm

EDIT: Artist Alley 101: A Practical and Fun Guide to Selling your Art, has been ACCEPTED!!! It is scheduled for Sunday 11am-12noon in room 306B! Hope to see you all there! :)

***Have some questions you'd like to ask? There will be a Q and A session at the end of our panel, so bring all your questions with you!

***Join the official Facebook Event page, and invite your friends!!! https://www.facebook.com/events/259731457504791/

I've been a part of the artist alley scene for 6 years, and I would love to have a chance to share my knowledge in a fun and informative panel!

I would like to run a panel on how people can plan, apply, and gear up for a great artist alley experience! The panel will be a good start for those who have never been a part of an artist alley before, as well as a good refresher for artist alley veterans, who will get a chance to share their ideas and experience at the end.

I also want this panel to be useful not only to people who do fan art, but those who are interested in promoting their original creations or gain a webcomic following!

Topics covered would range from things to consider before applying for a table, common items to sell, pricing your work, ways to make your setup and artwork stand out, the do's and don'ts of running a table and more!

I want to make this panel easy to follow, encouraging to aspiring artists, interactive with a Q&A session at the end, and make it fun!

I really like this idea. Me and my bff are planning a art table for 2014. We have been drawing, painting, and sketching for years but we are total newbies as far as selling art work. This would be a great start to ge a general idea on what we are getting ourselfs into. Whatever time and day this panel is(if it gets approved) count me in and I will be sure to have pen and paper ready!

This seems very interesting. I'm not an AA person myself but I'm curious to know about people that are and what it's like. So I'd come. :3

I have a list of questions i would love to ask.

    Handling art theft
    tricks/tips to make things easier
    Dos/Donts( in my opinions a very important topic to cover.);
    Question about commission work
    etc....
Me and my bff are serious about a art table in 2014 and we want to make sure our 1st time is not only a great experience but a profitable one.

These are all great questions! I know I definitely plan on covering most of these topics, didn't think about art theft though. I'll try to mention it for sure! Thanks for the input! :3

This sounds like a great panel!
Actually, I have been wanting to sell my art for a really long time and could use some tips before I branch out. So yes, this is a very helpful panel to me. =)

Music is considered an art form. I produce some Japanese inspired music. Ergo I should fall under the criteria for AA

Anyhow.I'm totally coming to your thing. This is a wonderful idea and it will definetly help me get a table at Ichibancon.

Dimmuburger, I agree music is art! Although what I will be covering will be mostly about visual art, since that is what I make :) Hope it can still be helpful to you though!
