I think my first time attending Animazement was in 2007, actually. My mom's friend had some relatives that lived near by that allowed us to stay at their house, so we didn't have to pay for the hotel.
Then we accidentally used the wrong towels and were never invited back. Heaven forbid the wrong towels being used..
This year we're going as my 20th birthday gift, however it's a bit late since my birthday is next month.

I seem to have lost touch with several friends from the convention. Maybe I'll run into them again.
Quite a few people I never got their numbers or emails, we just bump into each other time after time.

Wow! 100 conventions.. If there were more local ones around here I would probably have gone to more as well.
That must take quite a bit of devotion for you to attend so many.

Thanks for sending the link. Sooon as I reply to this post I'll check it out.

Oh, that's pretty nice. OMG, wrong towels!? That's like the lamest reason ever! haha, well, hopefully it will turn out to be a good bday gift :D I've had a con fall on my bday before, it was pretty fun...especially since my mom got one of the guests to sing Happy Birthday to me, was even my 18th bday.

Sometimes that seems how it is...you see people once a year, but every time you see them it's all like "Oh! I missed you" but then you never hear from them year round, hahah. For me, it always depends, but I tend to be a bit shy in person, so I'm more likely to hand out contact info online than irl. A lot of people I actually meet AFTER the con, online XD

Lol, I've been going since 2002, too, which has helped it XD But I sell art at them, and they can be pretty fun. I don't know if devotion is the right way

cool~

I'd rather pay the price of a hotel than hear about those towels. What better way to say someone isn't welcome?
Hopefully all will go well this year. The worst that can happen is me becoming a control freak because I was left in charge of the planning.
That must have been a great birthday for you! Who was it that sang happy birthday?

Sometimes even with all of the convention excitement people forget to exchange contact info or lose it at some point.
Speaking of which, would there be an easier way to contact you? It's been so nice talking to you!

That makes sense on why you have gone to so many since 2002. Oh, you sell art at them? Does this mean you will have a table in the Artist Alley at Animazement?

I had a look at the link you sent. I really like your art. You do an incredibly good job at conveying their expressions, which makes it so lively. Very nice.

I don't blame you. That's rather childish. It's not like you can't easily wash towels, too. I'm the one in charge of our itinerary for cons...and I'm super OCD about it, haha. I even go as far as to tell people to come a couple hours earlier than I actually plan us to leave XD It was pretty fun. It was Vic Mignonga...don't care much for him now, but that was back before he had an ego, so he was a lot friendly back then XD

Having an AA table is usually pretty nice for that, since people can just take a card with my contact info. I don't have an AA table this year, but I think I'll take some business cards with, anyways, for the same reason! XD I have lots of way to be contacted~ Kojika on Deviantart, Kojika on Facebook, and I also have AIM and skype, and course emails ^^

Sadly, I was waitlisted, so chances of me getting a table are pretty slim, unless someone I know gets one and opts for sharing. I'm just taking on extra commissions to cover the extra cost (meaning I get like no free time, and I just bought a new vgame I can't play anytime soon XD)

Thanks~ I think I could do better with the art in my webcomic, but I have to do two pages a week, so it tends to get rushed..XD

It's not like I dyed my hair and used the white towels. Now, if I did that.. that might be another story.
I'm pretty sure everyone going on this trip with us is slightly terrified of control freak tendencies. My mom has been asking me from time to time if I can handle the planning without spazzing out.
So far, so good.

Oh, I saw Vic Mignogna last year at a smaller convention. The only time I've gotten the chance to meet with him is at small conventions aside from one year stumbling into him at Animazement.
I wasn't even going to brave the large crowds to see him.
At Ichibancon he was incredibly nice. Complimented me on my hair two times, which was very nice of him. I went in line to get an autograph and he leaned in close and said, "You have really nice hair. I bet you get told that all the time, though."
I spent forever straightening my hair, so obviously it paid off. That was my second convention without a costume, actually.
Then I got sprayed with a water gun phaser at the Star Trek panel. Which, of course did wonders for that perfectly straightened hair.... not.

Never pass on an excuse to hand out business cards. I get them handed to me quite a bit at conventions and I actually still have ones from several years ago. But, that is part of being a pack rat with papers. Nothing is thrown away.
Even if you can't get a table, you still have business cards you can hand out. That is fortunate.
Have you asked around online if anyone is willing to share a table?

My Deviantart is incredibly outdated, but I can totally contact you on there. Also, I have Skype.

Lately I've been looking into tablets for my artwork because I want to be more productive. Doing things digitally takes a longer amount of time than drawing it all out free hand.
Depending on how fast you work free hand that might be a solution to producing pages quicker.
Of course, there is the matter of getting used to a tablet.

Yeah, people are so weird sometimes.

I met him first back in 2005, so I've seen him at a LOT of cons. He's always been nice/polite enough to me, but as someone who's friends with a lot of con staff and whatnot, I've heard the horror stories, and even been at the cons that he pulled some crap D: Lol, yeaaah...I can imagine.

LOL, yeah, it's just a really convenient thing to do. I have tons since I pick some up at every con, but then I'll put them aside, or stick them in my sketchbook, and forget about them for like months later. Then I find them and hafta remember who they are from, lolz. Not a lot of people got in, and some only got halfs, so right now, it's not been an easy thing XD but yeah, it's still not 100% hopeless, but i'm also not counting n it.

my skype is s.kojika, that's fine to. I'm just on DA a lot, and I know a lot of people use it too, so I give it out, haha XD

I got a tablet a bit ago from a friend, but then the pen "exploded" upon itself, so was out of commission for the longest time. But like a week ago, a friend was over and I told her bout it, cause I was looking into buying a new pen, so she took it and...managed to fix it. After all this time XD For me, I'm still faster by hand, but I'm a speed artist period. I tend to do all my coloring with a mouse, despite the tablet

Perhaps he does best at smaller conventions. Like I said, trying to get an autograph in the midst of all the people who flock to him? Almost impossible. That has to be stressful. I've heard wonderful things about him, and I've heard some not so wonderful things about him. As for the times I've met him, though, he has been nothing but pleasant.

I like looking at all the business cards and actually pin them up on a bulletin board. They are convention memories and quite often look really cool. Especially the ones with people's artwork on them.
Nothing is a 100% hopeless. You never know when something might happen. Good luck to you on finding someone to share a table with. Let me know if you do.

Added you on Skype and added you to my watch list on Deviantart.
Windows Live Messenger is shutting down sometime this month, I believe on the 15th, so a lot of people are turning to Skype even more now. Goodness knows it's been marketed like crazy.

Did you find it easy to get used to? There are so many nice ones that I would *love* to have, but couldn't afford even in my wildest dreams. Guess I'll just have to keep drooling over pictures of nice tablets I see online.
Pens seem to be pretty easy to replace. Good you got it working.
I've only ever done work with a mouse. People ask how on earth I do it without a tablet. Easy answer - never had a tablet and I'm used to doing it this way.

Well, smaller cons are always better for getting autographs, lol. I think it mostly depends on what side of the "fence" you're on with him, me thinks. He seems to be good to fans, but not so much the otheres.

Lol, if I did that, I'd have a wall full of them XD I try to keep the cards with art I get though, be it commissioned, gifted, or traded. I'm really not holding my breath, considering the same thing happened last year, and I was optimistic about it.

Yup, got your skype request~ had two people add me on DA yesterday, so one of them is probably you...either way, I add everyone back XD Yeah, with that one dying, I had my friends split tween AIM and Skype. I already had plenty on AIM anyways so that's not a big deal, but now I'm using Skype more. I don't have a webcam at all, and don't usually keep my mic hooked in, nor volume on, so originally I wasn't so keen on needing it, but now it's better.

Not at all XD I still can't use my tablet well. The pens are pretty pricy to replace, actually, at least for me XD $40 for a pen, is a bit ridiculous...especially when my tablet cost me $35 total. I bought it used from a friend...and by used I mean, she got it for her hubby and he wasn't using it so she sold it to me for cheap. Yeah, that's how I am with a mouse. It's what I'm used to.

I've gotten a few nice autographs, but the best thing about smaller conventions is the fact you have a chance to talk with guest sometimes. Short conversations mean more to me than a piece of paper with a name. That's true for guest OR just general convention attendees, though.

That's why I have an incredibly large bulletin board. I cut back on numbers by excluding business cards without artwork on them, though. Those are kept on my desk in a box. Knowing someone put the time and care into making a visually appealing card makes me want to put it up on the wall.
But, that is probably because I make and sell business cards for local places around here. Along with other odd jobs here and there of the sort. I did a menu for a catering service and have yet another catering service looking for a menu. It all started by doing flyers for the college and the next thing I knew people started asking what I charge.

Yes, my name on DA is GoPokeball. I saw you added me as well on there.
For the longest time all I used Skype for was the messaging. All my friends were on there and it was just easier to get a hold of them.
My previous computer couldn't handle calls.. or anything else really. It was a bucket of bolts and constantly made high pitch noises unless I unplugged it.

Finding them on eBay might be a bit cheaper. That is pretty crazy the cost of a pen being more expensive than the tablet itself.
I hear they take a long, long time to get used to.
A mouse seems to be working for me too, so I'm not entirely in a rush to change that either. Its whatever works best for you is all that counts.

I used to get the English ones all the time, so now I strive for the Japanese ones *v* but yeah, the smaller cons don't tend to be as strict with guests, so you can actually really enjoy them

Lol, yeah, I can imagine. I work for a print shop, so we have to make business cards all the time. But they are really useful.

Okay, I thought that was you, since I think the other one who added me looks like she knows a cosplayer friend of mine from MI. I still only really use Skype for chatting, but when I have people who ask for sound, and no one's home, or they schedule a face-to-face, I do it. I have to borrow one of my parents' labtops for the webcam though lol

Yeaaah...well, that was on Amazon, I think? I can't remember. It was pretty bad

There isn't as much need to be as strict at smaller conventions. There always is a tendency for fans to get a little crazy sometimes, though.

This will probably sound odd, but the coolest card I've ever gotten was one from a hentai artist. Not because of the content, but the quality and art on the card was just really good. That one isn't on my board, though. That is on my desk. I'll have to dig that out from under my stacks of papers and random craft stuff.

Yep, name is pretty similar to the 'GoPikachu' too.
My DA has been terribly neglected for a long time now, though. My scanner is broken after a cat took a flying leap onto it and knocked it off the table. The cat is okay, though!
You have a very nice gallery on DA, by the way.

Schedule calls, huh? You sound incredibly, incredibly busy. =) Gosh, I wish my friends had that kind of complex. They are pretty persistent with calls... why? So I can listen to them play video games. Haven't understood their reasoning for that yet. Haha

Yeah, Amazon has good prices for somethings, but eBay normally has them for better. There isn't much that I don't get from eBay because of the deals.

Yeah...fans are scary O.O

Lol, no, I can understand it. The content of what they draw doesn't matter in regards to cards, but rather the quality. I have picked up cards from hentai artists just cause they are awesome looking, and love their art. Might not like hentai, but usually, that's not 100% of what they draw, even if it's most.

Lol, gotta love cats XD I was basically using DA to social network before there were social networking sites...I think this is going on my 10th year on there? It's been a long time O.o Haha, thanks. It's also ridiculously large...XD

Lol, it's pretty sad, but I literally have friends "booking" me for weekends to hang out. But I tend to do a lot of conventions and cosplay events, so if people want me to do something with them (be it just hanging, an outing, or even photoshooting), they literally start asking me like 3 or more months in advance. It's ridiculous, but I can't say it's not true XD I keep myself so busy! Yeah, telling my friends I don't have a webcam tends to shush them off. Few even think to ask for a mic. And some will just call me on the phone instead XD

For me, it depends. I do about 50/50 anymore, but also cause one of my credit cards is amazon-based so not only does it go directly to credit, I also get triple points..XD

I can only imagine how guest are flocked to. Fans even get overly excited to see cosplayers sometimes. Several times fans have picked me up off my feet and tried carrying me. All fun and games until a costume gets ripped. Not so happy about surprise kiss attacks either!

I've checked out all the artist who have given me their business cards, regardless of their content. Art is art. Some of the artist were better than others, but I figure if someone has put in effort, they deserve feedback. Only a couple times have I turned someone down. Not because of their ability, but because the content was based on shock value only, there was no artistic effort.

Well, you've been on there for ten years, so it's no surprise your gallery is a bit expansive.
Mine? Not so much. I have a couple of things. Maybe one day that will change if I get a scanner. Until then everything I do is by hand and stored in countless binders or given away.

Keeping busy isn't a bad thing if it makes you happy. Some people would be crushed under the pressure of scheduling things, where as others can't manage without it.
My Skype list is very small, just how I like for it to be. Along with my Facebook. I used to have a ton of people I barely knew on all my accounts, which was a privacy concern for me.

That seems reason enough to use Amazon as well.

Yeeah, it depends of course on the guests and the con, but it can get pretty crazy.

Lol, oh, when I pick up a bcard it's cause I like their art, regardless XD I'm not really into certain craft things as much, but when they catch my eye, I try to support them in any way I can. Being an artist myself, I know how hard it is, so I'm very artist-oriented.

LOL, yeaaah XD I draw a lot, too. Not as much time as I used to, plus I don't upload everything anymore either. Some of my stuff is horrid XD

I like keeping busy, although I DO need to learn not to do quite as much haha XD Yeah, my skype is still fairly small cause I don't really use it that much. I don't really care as much as maybe I should for FB. My policy is "accept everyone." I mean, I DO go and look to makesure they aren't spammers or gonna be problematic FIRST, but other than that, I just delete them later if they turn out to be more problematic
