I was looking around and found this: http://en.animate-onlineshop.jp/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=13_14&products_id=2039
That's Gurren Lagann on BluRay for over $500
I know the show is good but still, that's prob a bit much for everyone to spend on a single show. What's the most you've paid for one? Did you feel bad about it, even though you just had to have it for your collection?
I can't really answer this question for myself, I tend to either rent or buy my stuff when it is dirt cheap.

I bought a CardCaptor Sakura DVD bundle (18 uncut subtitled DVDs) from Right Stuf back in 2007 for $80... then spent another $50 on Amazon for both movies. To this day, I have yet to watch it all, but I don't regret buying it.
I usually don't spend more than $42 on new anime from Right Stuf, but did drop $54 for the Serial Experiments Lain LE that came out last year. The artbook and restoration booklet makes it worth the extra dough.
Probably under $100. xD
Still dreaming about this...

Gundam Wing, back before it was a set and being released one at a time, back before I knew about Right Stuf (Cannot say enough good things about them and their customer service) buying them one at a time for 20+ bucks a pop, 10 dvd's over $120 total.
Clannad & Clannad After Story <3
Current IDEAS for 2014 AZ:
D.Gray Man: Lavi(?)
Final Fantasy 7: Zack Fair(?)
I think my DVD box set for Outlaw Star was $60 or so. Probably the most expensive anime I've bought to date.
And yeah, 500? Seriously??? O_o

The series? Uh 75 bucks sticker price in 2004-2006
I was an 10-12 year old idiot
Both BobD and me are on the line for many expensive Anime over the years. The fun part is not trying to justify it to yourself, but justify it to your wife who pays the bills and doesn't have an Anime obsession much like myself...
So what's the most I've spent???
Kimagure Orange Road DVD Boxset $160 (that was four easy payments to Animeigo back in the late 90's, early 2000's for those of us that pre-ordered it).
Bakemonogatari LE Blu-Ray Box $120
Nisemonogatari LE Blu-Ray Box $100
Wings Of Honeamise LE Blu-Ray Box $70
And I'm still looking and willing to pay the money (within reason) for Maison Ikkoku Boxsets 4-8 and Spirit Of Wonder "Miss China's Ring" (the Animeigo release)...
Although I do buy for my personal reasons, one of the reasons I collect is to have a massive library available for the AZ Viewing Rooms. That's right folks, 99% of everything shown at AZ comes from my personal collection...
"Which side are we on? We're on the side of the demons, Chief. We are evil men in the gardens of paradise, sent by the forces of death to spread devastation and destruction where ever we go. I'm surprised you didn't know that."
- Col. Tigh / Battlestar Galactica
Let's see, $30 per DVD for the ADV release of Le Chevalier d'Eon times 6 volumes . . .
Apparently I spent $180 for a 24 episode historical anime. Crap.
AZ 2014: Gambit (X-treme X-men), Kirito (Sword Art Online), Revolver Ocelot (Metal Gear Solid series), Hisao Nakai (Katawa Shoujo)
