Cosplay Rules

If you are interested in being a part of our Cosplay Contest, please familiarize yourself with the following rules:

1. The contest will be limited to 40 entries. An entry may be either a single individual or a group of individuals.

2. Presentations and skits are limited to 2 minutes, for both individual and group entries. We will enforce skit times by turning off the microphones and lighting.

3. You may not participate in more than one skit.

4. Cosplayers are required to have their Animazement badges with them to participate.

5. No nudity allowed - no costume is no costume. We reserve the right to insist on modifications to costumes.

6. Each group will have their skit introduced by the emcee. You will be required to supply a short concise description of your skit when you arrive at the mandatory Saturday Orientation Meeting.

7. Audio tracks must be provided on a clearly-labeled burned audio CD, which contains only what needs to be played, no more, no less, in CDA (standard CD audio) format. This means no mp3, aac, wav, ogg, au, etc. formatted audio files. If in doubt, test your CD in a standard CD player. Flash cards, thumb drives and iPods will not be accepted. The CDs will not be returned after the contest. All CDs are required to be turned in during the mandatory Saturday Orientation Meeting. Skits should not contain material that requires audio cues.  All music should have a clear start and end, running no longer than 2 minutes.

8. You will be required to provide the real names for all participants on your application form.  It will be helpful if you have this information with you at the Friday Information Meeting.

9. No flashpots or explosive devices. No liquids or gels.

10. If you plan to carry a weapon, you must consult and conform to our Props and Weapons policy.

11. Props must be carried on and off the stage by the contestants themselves, or with the help of one contestant-provided assistant.  The assistant's name must be provided to us on your application form.

12. Dressing rooms will not be provided.  However, we will have Cosplay Assistants available to help contestants who may experience a wardrobe malfunction.

13. An adult must accompany all contestants under the age of 16. The adult doesn't have to be on stage during the presentation or backstage ahead of time--just in the audience.

14. All participants in the Junior category must have an adult (preferably a parent or guardian) who will accompany them to the stage, and off the stage following their presentation.  This adult will be allowed to sit with the participant in the post-presentation seating area.

15. Animazement may tape or photograph contest entries at its discretion.  Entry into this contest constitutes an agreement by the entrants to allow EGAO/Animazement to use their likeness/image, etc. in any current/future advertisement, promotion, or product.

16.  Please be courteous.  Show all performers the same respect that you want them to show you, and keep your volume down in the preparation and staging areas.

If you have any questions, please ask them at the Cosplay preparation session!
